剧情简介: Living with his elderly mother in Colorado, lawyer Bill Brent wins the gratitude of many for his professional ability. His marriage to Marion Moore, an adventuress who leaves him after her interest wanes, Bill is driven to drink, and he is blamed for a killing committed by his law partner. Sentenced to a long prison term, Bill escapes to Canada with Jack, his cellmate, and the two become wealthy in the trapping business. One day they rescue Nita, a girl who is the sole survivor of a boating accident, and take her in. Jack and Nita fall in love and are eventually married, and Bill decides to return home to his mother. As he approaches his home, he is accosted by the town sheriff, who long ago pledged eternal gratitude to Bill. Running toward his home, Bill is shot by the sheriff, but lives long enough to greet his sick mother, who dies just before him.
