  • 剧情简介: The Mystic East (1935) ** (out of 4) Twice during this short, an unknown narrator says "Quaint People in Queer Places" and this is placed over the closing credit as well. This eight-minute film takes us to Korea where we are introduced to the people as well as their hobbies. This short is obviously trying to be like a James A. Fitzpatrick TravelTalks episode, although the narrator here isn't nearly as good nor is the stories or the cinematography. We basically get a couple jokes aimed towards the people (like their hats) and then we learn a bit about their livelihood, which in this case is rice and coconuts. THE MYSTIC EAST isn't a horrible movie but it's just not overly entertaining. There are a couple interesting parts dealing with the coconuts but it just doesn't feature anything that really makes you want to recommend it to people.
