  • Plot: Bobby Dunn wants to get married to his sweetheart, so he spends the first half of this three-reeler trying to raise some money. Mistakenly convinced she has abandoned him, he spends most of the second half trying to commit suicide.Comedians killing themselves was a popular theme for the movies -- anything for a laugh and there seemed to have been a surplus anyway. Bobby uses all the standard gags in this one. While they are performed competently, they were done time and again and so the result is decent, but not much more. Not that this would have been a particular problem. This Arrow Comedy was intended for States Rights and that meant it would be shown for one day at a neighborhood theater before being shipped to to the next. Dunn made some very good comedies, but this looks like one made to fill out a season. I've seen it done better and if you've looked at many silent comedies, so have you.
