  • Plot: 'Monkey and Another, Boxing' is easily in my top 10 list for this year's movies. Although given strong competition both commercially and artistically by the 'Duncan' saga, 'Monkey' is clearly the superior film and and should be counted among the classics. Released during the summer blockbuster season, many critics lumped it in with the testosterone-fueled 'Men Boxing', dismissing them both as another film industry fad. While this critique aptly describes 'Men' , 'Monkey' is a subtle characterization of the developing tensions that would eventually culminate in the Spanish-American War at the end of the decade. 'Monkey and Another, Boxing' is simply one of the best examples of filmmaking for this year.
