Plot: Important note: This is not a film review. I hope to be able to find and add as many silent film synopsis of films that have a survival status of unknown or presumed lost. I try to do as much research as I can and it is not my intention to deceive anyone, for sometimes the film does exist and some presumed lost films are still being discovered. I am more than delighted if someone has knowledge of a film listed as lost but survives, as I wish all silent films did survive. I hope the reader enjoys this brief synopsis.Duncan Irving, Jr. ( Richard Barthelmess ), a poor boy from a small southern town who loves aristocratic Syliva Randolph ( Madge Evans ), receives an appointment to West Point. In Duncan's final year Sylvia's cousin, Bert Stafford ( Reginald Sheffield ), also enters the Academy and resents having to take orders from upperclassman Duncan, whom Bert considers his social inferior. Duncan finally strikes Bert in retaliation for his many insults and consequently is expelled from the Point. When Bert is lost in the jungles of South America, Duncan heads an expedition to rescue his enemy, who finally divulges the truth. Duncan is reinstated at the academy and marries Sylvia upon his graduation.This 1924 silent drama was based from the play Classmates by William C. de Mille and Margaret Turnbull, produced by Inspiration Pictures, starring Richard Barthelmess and Madge Evans.
