  • Plot: Music hall star Leslie Sarony tells some jokes that had whiskers on them when he was born, sings a couple of funny songs, and does a couple of soft shoe dances. It's a short subject much like the ones that Vitaphone was producing in Brooklyn, reproductions of popular stage acts -- although the titles tout Sarony's radio stardom -- to play along with features, instead of hiring live stage acts for theaters.Sarony appears to have had a long and popular career, judging by his television appearances. Clearly American Terry Gilliam liked him, since Sarony has an appearance in "The Crimson Permanent Assurance" segment of Monty Python's MEANING OF LIFE. He died in 1985 at age 88.
