  • Plot: Solomon Wise and Susan Smith arc devoted lovers and therefore find themselves confronted by many difficulties when they become rival candidates for mayor of their town. The campaign opens with a rush and Susan seems to be a sure winner. Solomon arranges for a coup to defeat Susan and, to his horror, receives a message that if he is elected she will not marry him. Solomon, therefore, finds himself between two fires and finally resolves to defeat himself. The fight goes on merrily and the difficulties of the lovers are settled when it is found, after the votes are counted, that a "dark horse" has won.
