Plot: Itze, a Jewish immigrant with his sweetheart Esther, arrive at Ellis Island, where they become separated. He passes the examination of the inspectors and is forced to leave for New York without her. Alone, Esther is examined and she is allowed to pass. Finding the boat and Itze are gone she turns back. At the dock where Itze arrives, he tries to stay aboard for Esther, but is forced to land. At Chicago, on meeting his relatives, he explains that Esther was detained. In his trouble his relatives take him to the office of the Jewish Immigration Society. He is assured his sweetheart will be found. Landing alone, Esther, in her distress, meets with an officer, who takes her in hand, finds her a place and locates her friends. Itze, in Chicago, is busy in his new home and a happy ending is shown by the reunion of the immigrant and his sweetheart.
