  • Plot: Documentary exploring the uniquely Winnipeg take on the ancient Jewish ceremony of Taharah. When a Jewish life is over, the Met (the corpse) is ritually bathed, dried and clothed in white cotton garments. This process is called the Taharah, which in Hebrew means "purification". The Taharah has very different meaning and purposes for Jews of different persuasions [from Orthodox Jews to Reform Jews]. To explore these differences, the director filmed the Taharah from his perspective and framed that within the community context with interviews with Winnipeg Rabbis from different religious sectors. The aim in this is to explain what occurs in the Taharah in Winnipeg, and what it means to me as a Jew.
