  • Plot: It is the dog days - the long, idle time at the height of summer, when the heat is at its most stultifying, during which period, the Romans used to say, people are compelled to act strangely. Under a low-hanging star, London swelters in the stifling heat. Miranda (Melanie Gray), approaching her late-thirties, is bored, trapped in a city job; Carlton (Ivanno Jeremiah), younger, is equally frustrated. A city this big is many cities: very different lives are lived on the same streets. In the heat, however, things begin to slip and the two are drawn together, both finding beauty in the unlikeliest place and as a consequence, or perhaps influenced by the on-looking star, take a chance on each other and agree to go for a swim in Hampstead's bathing ponds. But can the passion last? A love letter to London, Dog Days evokes the sensation of one blotting paper-soft night in the city - and asks if one chance is all you need to change your life.
