  • Plot: Christian Brann, the son of the former President of the uniquely American company Levi Strauss, is raised by a family from the Kingdom of Tonga after his father's stroke. Through this film Christian examines the immigration process that brought this family to him and then follows the story from the US to Tonga as he addresses key issues facing the Tongan community: fight for democracy, loss of cultural identity, separation of family. A constant undercurrent is Christian's search for identity, being the rich Caucasian son of the President of Levi's raised by a poor Tongan family. The film features Tongan music, cultural events, and interviews with political and royal Tongan figures. Film's particularly important/timely in light of recent disparaging HBO series Jonah from Tonga.
