  • Plot: I saw this as part of the "Franz Kafka's It's a Wonderful Life" DVD. It is the most poignant of the four short films on the disc (also included are "The Deal" written by Lewis Black, "Seven Gates", and the above mentioned). Shot in black and white, the film takes place over a number of years despite only being about 20 minutes in length. The story seems to be set in the depression-era south, but I can't be entirely sure about that. The film is based on a short story by Mark Steadman and directed by film editor John David Allen. This film is very well done as are all of the shorts included in this collection. I would definitely recommend checking out the DVD if you can find it.
