His 2006 debut fiction film, Mon frère se marie (2006), would later be optioned by Hollywood for an unlikely remake. In 2010, Cleveland Versus Wall Street (2010), a film that recreates a fictional trial between evicted Clevelanders and bankers blamed for the financial crisis of 2007-2010, was presented at the Cannes Film Festival as part of the Directors’ Fortnight. Having been nominated for a César for Best Documentary, in 2011 he went on to win the Swiss Film Award for the second time. In 2013, L’expérience Blocher (2013), his portrait of the nationalist-populist leader Christoph Blocher, sparked a sizable controversy.
